US and world officials have welcomed a landmark diplomatic and economic agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, while opponents and Palestinian officials – excluded from negotiations over White House "peace" plans in January – have condemned the plan, arguing that it normalises occupation of Palestinian territories.The plan would suspend Israel's annexation of occupied West Bank territories to instead focus on "expanding ties with other countries in the Arab and Muslim world".
